Andre Agassi Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

Eight-time Grand Slam singles champion Andre Agassi was inducted into the International Tennis Hall Of Fame on Saturday, along with Fern ‘Peachy’ Kellmeyer in Newport, Rhode Island. “I’m thrilled and humbled and quite honestly a bit terrified to be here standing in front of you today,” Agassi said during his induction speech.
Agassi To Play In Exhibition Match In Newport

Andre Agassi has captured eight grand slam tournament titles, an Olympic gold medal and is known around the world as one of the most exciting athletes to ever pick up a tennis racquet. On 9 July, he will be recognised with the highest honor in tennis - induction to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Topping off the induction festivities, the International Tennis Hall of Fame has added three new events to Hall of Fame Weekend celebration - a live simulcast of the sold-out Induction Ceremony, the Hall of Fame Classic Exhibition Match and the Brooks Brothers Lunch with Legends.
Man Vs Wild Host Takes On Agassi

Bear Grylls, host of the ultimate survival show Man vs. Wild, encountered a challenge of a different sort when he faced off against Andre Agassi on a tennis court in Las Vegas.
Grylls, who first met Agassi earlier this year at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, visited the former ATP World Tour No. 1 at the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, where the pair mingled and spoke with students.

Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and John McEnroe are among the tennis stars set to compete in the redesigned Champions Series for over-30 players.
The tour's 2011 schedule is being announced Tuesday. It includes one-night stops in 12 cities over five weeks. The season begins Sept. 22 at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and finishes Oct. 22 at Buffalo, N.Y.
Four men participate at each event, playing one-set semifinals. The winners meet in an eight-game, pro-set championship match.
Agassi to receive award for working with kids

New York: Andre Agassi will receive an award for his work with disadvantaged children during a tennis exhibition this month in New York.
The eight-time Grand Slam champion was selected as the recipient of the Garden of Dreams Hero Award, which was created in 2009 by Madison Square Garden in New York and the Garden of Dreams Foundation, a charity that organizes events and provides services for children coping with illnesses and other problems.
Agassi gets nod for Hall of Fame induction
Andre Agassi, whose sparkling career included eight grand slam titles and an Olympic gold medal, has been selected for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Agassi, 40, is the sole 2011 inductee in the recent player category and his induction will be held at the Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, on July 9. Inductees in other categories will be announced at a later date, the Hall said.
"I'm truly honored to be recognized alongside the greatest players of tennis," the former world number one said in a statement.

Andre Agassi headlined a list of nominees for the International Tennis Hall of Fame following a sparkling career highlighted by eight grand slam titles and an Olympic gold medal.
Agassi, who shocked the sporting world late last year when he admitted using the highly addictive drug crystal meth and lying to tennis officials to escape a ban, was the only name in the recent player category, the Hall said on Wednesday.

There have been so many Wimbledon heartthrobs and honeys over the years, but American hunk Andre Agassi and Russian beauty Anna Kournikova have been voted the sexiest tennis players of all time.
To celebrate the 75th year of their association with Wimbledon, Robinsons asked 5,000 British fans who has caught the eye the most over the years.
The survey found that rough and rugged Agassi came out top with over a third of women (37 per cent), while Kournikova was a firm favourite and top choice with 32 per cent of men voting for the leggy blonde.

Maria Sharapova has been voted the sexiest female tennis player on the circuit.
The gorgeous Russian scored 58 per cent to beat the likes of Ana Ivanovic, Elena Dementieva and Daniela Hantuchova to come top in a new poll from Robinsons.
And Spanish sensation Rafa Nadal — who claimed 55 per cent — was the man most women wanted to play a love game with after fending off strong competition from Britain's Andy Murray.
