Two of this year's form players took the court for the FORTIS Championships Luxembourg on Sunday, but of course only one would lift the trophy. And this time it was experience that prevailed over youth, as Russia's Elena Dementieva edged Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki for her third Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title of the year, 26 64 76(4).

Elena Dementieva will be gunning for her third title of the year in the finals of the FORTIS Luxembourg Championships on Sunday, after dispatching eighth seed Sorana Cirstea in the semis. The Russian's opponent will be Caroline Wozniacki, who might only be 18 but will be seeking a fourth title in as many months.

Olympic gold medalist Elena Dementieva was dominant Friday in reaching the semifinals of the $225,000 Luxembourg Championships.
The top-seeded Dementieva, of Russia, needed just 58 minutes to slip past former world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo, 6-4, 6-0, converting 5-of-8 break points while only losing serve once.

Eighth-seeded Sorana Cirstea of Romania upset third-seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 7-6 (2), 6-2 Friday to reach the quarterfinals of the Fortis Championships.
Sixth-seeded Li Na of China defeated Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to join Cirstea in Saturday's semifinals.
Top-seeded Elena Dementieva played former top-ranked Amelie Mauresmo later Friday.

The favorites at the $145,000 Tashkent Open flourished on Friday, as all four quarterfinals went to form. The most notable match-up involved the top-seeded Peng Shuai and crafty Romanian Monica Niculescu and it was Peng who delivered in the end, in three tough sets.
