Querrey looks to spring a shock

One of the players tipped to have an outside chance of success in this month’s upcoming US Open 2010 betting is Sam Querrey. American Querrey successfully defended his title as he beat top-seeded Andy Murray in the final Sunday at the Farmers Classic in LA. The win was Querrey’s fourth title this season. It was a bit of revenge for the American over Murray. Going into the match Querrey was 0-4 down in previous meetings with the Scot.

Despite his four titles, Querrey has failed to impress in any of the grand slams this season. Querrey was beaten in the first round of the Australian Open by 2003 finalist Rainer Schuttler. He followed that performance with another first round exit at the French Open. He was put out by fellow American Robby Ginepri in four sets. It was his fourth first round exit in Paris in as many years in the tournament. Querrey fared better at Wimbledon this summer however. He reached the fourth round but came up against a rampant Murray on home soil and lost in straight sets.

The US Open has been Querrey’s most successful grand slam tournament. Whilst never reaching the latter stages, Querrey has looked most dangerous on hard courts and in front of his home support. Last year he was unlucky to go out at the third round at Flushing Meadows, losing in four sets to Robin Soderling.

The victory over Murray will give Querrey a massive confidence boost going into Men's US Open betting later this month. He is one of the next generations of players who will be challenging for grand slams in the upcoming years.
