Mats Wilander
Wilander beats Lendl 6-3 in exhibition match

In his first match since retiring 16 years ago, Ivan Lendl looked nearly as fit as the man who dominated tennis in the 1980s. His game, however, wasn’t nearly as sharp.
Lendl committed a string of unforced errors and lost to former rival Mats Wilander 6-3 in a one-set exhibition match in the Caesars Tennis Classic on Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall.
Enqvist replaces Wilander as Sweden Davis Cup coach
Former world number four Thomas Enqvist was named as Sweden’s Davis Cup captain on Thursday, replacing Mats Wilander who announced his retirement from the job earlier this week.
“Of course, it’s an honour to be given this assignment and a fantastic heritage to take care of,” Enqvist said in a statement on the Swedish tennis federation’s website (www.tennis.se).
Wilander stands down as Sweden's Davis Cup skipper

Mats Wilander announced on Tuesday he was standing down as Sweden's Davis Cup captain to spend more time with his family.
"I have decided not to go on," the 45-year-old father of four and former world No. 1 told the Aftonbladet newspaper.
"It's for purely personal reasons that I have taken this decision, I want to spend more time at home here with my children."
Wilander: Federer will keep on winning

Eurosport tennis expert Mats Wilander believes that Roger Federer has years of tennis dominance ahead of him, despite the births of twin daughters Myla Rose and Charlene Riva.
Sweden name squad for Davis Cup tie against Argentina

Sweden captain Mats Wilander on Tuesday named his squad for this month's Davis Cup quarter-final tie against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
He has called up Jonas Bjorkman, Thomas Johansson, Robin Soderling and Robert Lindstedt while doubles specialist Simon Aspelin was included as a reserve, the Swedish tennis federation announced on their Web site (www.tennis.se).
Johansson and Soderling are expected to play in the singles while Bjorkman is likely to team up with Lindstedt in the doubles for the tie to be played from April 11-13.
Golovin changes coaches again

Tatiana Golovin, who has been working with Mats Wilander (of "Roger Federer has no balls" infamy), has changed coaches again. She will now be coached by Glen Schaap, who has worked with both Nadia Petrova and Dinara Safina. The word is that Wilander did not want to do a lot of traveling. Golovin's game improved seriously under his tutelage; one hopes she will stay on track now that he is gone.
Wilander's Pro-Am Raises Funds, Awareness For EB

The familiar sight of the Grand Slam champion dressed for court in his pristine, pressed green and white Lacoste sweat suit prompted a slap-happy player procession. Like long-lost friends reconnecting at a high school reunion, recreational players stopped to shake Mats Wilander's hand and offer affectionate slaps on the back on this brisk Monday morning at the har-tru courts of the Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y.
Mats Wilander (born August 22, 1964) is a former World No. 1 tennis player from Sweden who won seven Grand Slam singles titles and one Grand Slam doubles title. He is particularly remembered for winning three of the four Grand Slam singles events in 1988, his most successful year on the tour. He was also a driving force behind Sweden's run of seven consecutive Davis Cup finals in the 1980s.
