Justine Henin’s comeback season gained further momentum Wednesday when she rallied from a set down to defeat World No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki to reach the Sony Ericsson Open semi-finals in Miami. The Belgian former World No. 1 dropped the first set in a tie-break but hit back hard to topple recent Indian Wells finalist Wozniacki 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4.

Henin could face countrywoman Kim Clijsters, herself less than one year into a comeback, in the semi-finals. Reigning US Open champion Clijsters, seeded No. 14, faces ninth-seeded Australian Samantha Stosur tonight.

Top-ranked Serena Williams has not entered the Italian Open, although she could still play as a wild card.

Tournament director Sergio Palmieri told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he recently spoke with Williams in Miami, and she asked him to hold a wild-card spot open.

Williams has been sidelined with a knee injury since her Australian Open title in January.

Williams won in 2002 in Rome, a key clay-court warmup for the French Open, en route to her only title at Roland Garros.

As Tiger Woods prepares to step back into the maelstrom, what of Roger Federer, who he has been compared to so often and has starred alongside in those cheesy razor commercials?

The so-called Curse of Gillette may have afflicted Woods, handball villain Thierry Henry and the chronically injured David Beckham, but Federer sails on serenely. In a rare interview, the 28-year-old Swiss delivers a warning to the rest of the field that he is ready to extend his dominance, speaking of the 'peace' he felt inside while beating an anxious Andy Murray in January's Australian Open final.

Tomas Berdych continues his amazing run through the Miami draw, crushing Robin Soderling on Friday night. Berdych will play for the title on Sunday against Andy Roddick.

After Marcos Baghdatis scored what he called his best win ever over Roger Federer at the Indian Wells Masters earlier this month, the Cypriot promptly lost in the next round to clay-court specialist Tommy Robredo.

Roddick turned the match on its head in an eight-point stretch late in the second set and rode the momentum to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over the two-time Sony Ericsson Open finalist Nadal, who showed very rare signs of frustration as the match slipped away.
