Rank outsider Thomaz Bellucci removed another favourite from the Gstaad ATP tournament on Saturday when he beat third seed Igor Andreev 6-4 7-5 to reach the final.

The left-handed Brazilian qualifier, ranked 119th, previously ousted top seed and local favourite Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland and Nicolas Kiefer, the sixth seed, after the German retired hurt.

Bellucci, who reached his first ATP final in Costa da Sauipe in his homeland earlier this year, broke in the ninth game to take the first set.

In the second, he saved a set point on his serve at 5-4 down before going on to win the game.

Bellucci then broke Andreev, the only seed to make the semi-finals, and held serve to end the Russian's hopes of winning a first title since 2005.

"I played very well during the important points and I'm very happy to now also reach a final outside Brazil," said the 21-year-old.

He will meet Andreas Beck after the German beat Brazilian Marcos Daniel 7-6 6-3 in the other semi to reach his first ATP final and continue his climb up the rankings.

Beck produced the only service break of the match in the eighth game of the second set and wrapped up the semi when Daniel overhit a shot from the baseline in the next game.

Beck began the year ranked 109th and has jumped to 51st
