Four more of the 30 International tournaments that determine who will qualify for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions were played in September, and only three are left.

The week of September 14, Shahar Peer won her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title in three years in Guangzhou, racing through the draw without dropping a set. That same week, Melinda Czink knocked off No.1 seed Nadia Petrova, No.3 seed Aleksandra Wozniak and No.4 seed Lucie Safarova en route to her first Tour title in Québec City.

The following week, Peer showed she would not go on another title drought, as she was triumphant in Tashkent, once again not losing a set all week. That made her the third player this year to have won more than one International event. The others are Victoria Azarenka, who won Brisbane and Memphis, and María José Martínez Sánchez, who was victorious in Bogotá and Bastad.

Also the week of September 21, Kimiko Date Krumm won in Seoul for her first Tour singles title since 1996, the same year she retired before returning to the Tour in April of last year. No.5 seed Alisa Kleybanova, No.1 seed Daniela Hantuchova and No.2 seed Anabel Medina Garrigues were among the victims for Date Krumm, who won Sunday's final a day shy of her 39th birthday to become the second-oldest player in the Open Era to win a Tour singles title, after Billie Jean King.

The 10 highest-ranked players who have captured at least one International tournament during the year and who are not participating in singles at the year-end Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009 will qualify for Bali, along with two wildcards. The remaining International events are in Linz, Osaka and Luxembourg.
