Tommy Haas, a 2007 Australian Open semifinalist, has withdrawn from next week's Australian Open due to a lingering shoulder injury. Haas joins Guillermo Canas, who pulled out in November with a left wrist injury.

A year ago, Haas defeated third-ranked Nikolay Davydenko and ninth-ranked David Nalbandian before bowing to Fernando Gonzalez in the final four of the Melbourne major.

It was the third time Haas reached the Australian Open semifinals. In the 2002 Australian Open semifinals, he held a two sets to one lead over Marat Safin before rain halted play. The roof was closed and when play resumed, Safin won 12 of the final 14 games to hand Haas his lone five-set loss of the season.

The 29-year-old Haas reached the U.S. Open quarterfinals last September marking the first time in his career he advanced to the quarterfinals or better of two majors in the same season.
