Ivanovic stamps title credentials in Paris
World number two Ana Ivanovic stamped her title credentials at the French Open with a 6-0 6-0 fourth-round whitewashing of unseeded Czech Petra Cetkovska on Sunday.
The Serb, who reached the final at Roland Garros last year, will meet either Swiss 10th seed Patty Schnyder or Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik, seeded 27th, in the quarter-finals.
Ivanovic did not take time to improve her tan on a sunsoaked Centre Court, wrapping it up in 54 minutes and leaving a resigned Cetkovska to look back at the two break points she had.
Although the first rally suggested she could face a stern opponent, Ivanovic broke in the second game.
Relying on her sharp forehand, the Serb took the opening set in 24 minutes and stayed focused in the second.
It looked like Cetkovska would possibly win a game but Ivanovic showed no mercy, hammering her opponent with powerful, flat shots from the baseline.
Cetkovska, who had not dropped a set in her first three matches here, managed a total of 30 points, 16 of them from Ivanovic's unforced errors.
The Australian Open runner-up will again be the favourite in her quarter-final match, having beaten Srebotnik in all their four meetings, including a straightforward win in Melbourne in the third round.
She has lost four times to Schnyder but prevailed in their last three meetings, twice on clay.
