One of two back-to-back $2 million Sony Ericsson WTA Tour stops takes place this week, as the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open welcomes seven of the world's Top 10. Ranked No.2, seeded No.1 and the defending champion - Jelena Jankovic will be the belle of the ball this week, returning to the spot she claimed her biggest title of 2009. Though she is still trying to find her best after some recent injuries, a hurt back at Wimbledon and a sprained ankle at Portoroz, the tenacious Serb is looking to repeat, and after a first round bye will play a qualifier.

Fresh off a strong week in front of her Danish home crowd in Copenhagen, Caroline Wozniacki holds the No.2 seed. Wozniacki has been shining on American hardcourts for the last year, among her best results being the New Haven title and her first Grand Slam at the US Open last year, as well as a run to the finals of Indian Wells this year. She's getting better and better and she opens in the second round with Sybille Bammer or a qualifier.

As though the last two US Open finalists weren't threatening enough as the Top 2 seeds, another pair of Flushing Meadows standouts are No.3 and No.4. Elena Dementieva, a runner-up at the last Grand Slam of the year in 2004, and Kim Clijsters, who has won the Open twice, will be tough to beat as well, although Clijsters - who made her sensational return to tennis at this event last year - could have a tricky opener against Dinara Safina, who beat her here last year.

French Open champion Francesca Schiavone, Wimbledon runner-up Vera Zvonareva and Top 10 stalwarts Agnieszka Radwanska and Li Na round out the Top 8 seeds, with recent Stanford winner and three-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova at No.9 and No.10.

Flavia Pennetta, Yanina Wickmayer, Shahar Peer, Aravane Rezai, Nadia Petrova and Marion Bartoli are seeded No.11 through No.16.

Dangers among the unseeded contingent include former No.1 Ana Ivanovic and former No.2 Svetlana Kuznetsova, both Grand Slam champions too.
