A highly anticipated star-studded field will surely make 2008 a season to remember. The top contenders will be Justine Henin, the Williams sisters, Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Davenport.

Another year to remember for Justine: The Belgian’s sublime skills should secure a fifth victory in Roland Garros. As she is poised to maintain her beautiful form of late throughout 2008. Justine might be able to score yet another Slam on the hardcourts and maybe she might take out one of the Williams sisters with it. If the US Open and Australian Open field are weakened then it’s inevitable that the Belgian will take both. However, 2008 will be yet another year where her Wimbledon dreams are just that a dream! As at least one of the Williams sisters will shed off injury and kick the Belgian out of SW19.

Despite tough competition, the Belgian should clinch her no.1 ranking throughout most of the year, as her consistency and sheer talent will firmly place her there. But overall Justine should prevail in Roland Garros and one of the hard court Slams. The only players that could really alter that flow will be the Williams sisters, but Justine will always have the consistency with her.

The Williams sisters will prevail over injury: With injuries plaguing their career, the Williams sisters will always have a big question mark stamped on them. But their mentality will once again prevail in 2008. As only one of them needs to be in great form to win Wimbledon. As there is no doubt that Venus is the best grasscourt player, followed up by Serena. Victories at the US Open and the Australian Open are foreseeable. Although they will need their best to beat the competition of Justine Henin, they should be able to at least claim one of them between the two.

Serena finished the season with an injury and Venus finished with a mystery illness that played apart in her US Open defeat. But injuries will occur and with it a lack of consistency, however they are strong enough to win Slams and maintain a top ten ranking.

Maria Sharapova will comeback strong: Although she isn’t the best, Maria is improving and she should climb back to no.2. However the Grandslams look bad for her. I have no doubt that she should make the semi-finals and finals. But surely Justine will keep her brilliant form and send her packing out of the hard court Slams. Her best chance looks to be Wimbledon, as Maria can beat Justine at Wimbledon. But then again the Williams sisters will find great form and they will enjoy giving her another beating. Overall it should be a great and consistent year for her, and if injuries are weakening Justine and the Williams sisters, there is every chance to take a Slam.

Serbians tamed: With Justine Henin, the William sisters, Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Davenport on the scene, the Serbians will not take a Grandslam. There is no point discussing if they are ready to take one, as their superiors are in a completely different league. But they should collect a lot of WTA titles and they can still make it to the later stages of the Grandslams.

Russians overshadowed: Excluding Maria Sharapova, the chances of the other Russians make Grandslam finals are dim. As Svetlana Kuznetsova still needs to learn that there is a time and a place to use certain weapons. Anna Chakvetadze is mentally not ready to make one. But Elena Dementieva looks the best to start pushing to a Slam final. As her recent ups and downs and consistent serve should re-establish her back into Grandslam semis. Nadia Petrova could cause a stir at Roland Garros but she need to find that form that we saw in 2006.

Lindsay Davenport will climb back into the top five and she will pitch big in the Grandslams, a victory at one is looking better by the minute.

I have no doubt that Justine Henin will continue her steamrolling come 2008 and will secure another French Open title. Wimbledon will once again be claimed by one of the Williams sisters. But the hardcourt Slams are bursting with top title contenders and they should host the best matches of 2008. Of course some of my prediction will be wrong but Justine Henin and the Williams sisters will be the front runners in 2008.

the way maria came back at the end of season champ, she will dominate with ease next year. williams sis are over for good. serena is too fat to move or be a serious treat ever again. venus is injured. they have other priorities now. like their mum they want more to experience and enjoy the world of plenty then tennis success.

Aasim i like your articles but you are wrong in most of your predictions. Williams sisters are over, Davenport is over as well. Russians only win if others are injured. Ana will soon start to dominate and her domination will last for years to come.
