Mauresmo set to end rumours
Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo is expected to end speculation on the future of her tennis career at a scheduled press conference on Thursday.
Two-time Grand Slam winner Mauresmo has been surrounded by rumours regarding whether she will hang up her racquet for good following her announcement earlier this year that she was skipping her last two tournaments of the season.
The 30-year-old Frenchwoman, winner of Australian Open and Wimbledon titles, made a promising start to the year with success in the Paris Indoor Open.
However, the world number 21 struggled to maintain her form towards the end of her injury-plagued season and was dumped out of the second round of the US Open by Canadian teenager Aleksandra Wozniak, marking her last match to date.
In a press conference in October Mauresmo, who first topped the world rankings in 2004, admitted she was having doubts about continuing her career in the sport and reported she was taking time out to consider her options.
