Poland top tennis star to face Venus Williams
Poland’s tennis top seed Agnieszka Radwanska will battle against Venus Williams for the US Open quarterfinal on Monday.
Agnieszka Radwanska, seeded ninth in the women’s US Open tennis tournament at Flushing Meadows, New York, effortlessly beat Dominika Cibulkova from Slovakia in two sets (6:0, 6:3) in the third round yesterday, which in the opinion of many the Pole’s best match this season, and progressed to the next round.
“I am glad I can face Venus, because this means that I’m already in the fourth round of the tournament,” Radwanska told reporters before the forthcoming duel on the main court with Venus Williams, a two-time US Open winner, seeded seventh this year.
Radwanska revealed the press that if she wins the quarterfinal on Monday evening, she will go shopping for a new handbag.
Radwanska has beaten Venus Williams once in her career. Two years ago, she won 0:6, 3:6 a tournament in Luxembourg.
