A federal judge has dismissed several ATP officials as defendants in a lawsuit by the German Tennis Federation that challenges the tour’s planned tournament restructuring.

The German federation claims the Association of Tennis Professionals’ tournament restructuring, which would relegate the Hamburg clay court tournament to second-tier status, violates American antitrust laws.

The plaintiffs, including Hamburg tournament operator Rothenbaum Sport and the Qatar Tennis Federation, say the ATP is trying to monopolize player commitments and tournament sanctions.

But U.S. District Court Judge Gregory Sleet on Monday dismissed several ATP officials as defendants. He also dismissed breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty claims against the ATP, but kept intact the main antitrust claims.
