Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova hoping to enjoy more success in Australia
SLlovakian Daniela Hantuchova was pleased to be back in unforgiving Australian conditions on Wednesday.
Hantuchova, the prospective fourth seed for the Brisbane International, defied the midday heat at Tennyson as she prepared for what is usually one of the most successful months of her tennis year.
The Australian Open is the 25-year-old poster girl's most successful Grand Slam event, with four trips to the second week in the past six years and a career-best semi-final appearance at Melbourne Park in 2008.
Hantuchova beat three top-30 players in Australia last January - Dinara Safina in Sydney and Maria Kirilenko and Agnieszka Radwanska in Melbourne - and only one for the rest of 2008.
"I took home some really nice memories last year," she said.
"With my preparation, I will be even more ready."
Tournament director Steve Ayles said he hoped to schedule one men's main draw match for Sunday's first session at Pat Rafter Arena, alongside two women's main draw matches.
Australian wildcard entry Jelena Dokic and qualifying hope Jessica Moore will practise on Thursday.
Dokic, 25, was given a main draw wild card along with Brisbane 16-year-olds Monika Wejnert and Isabella Holland, while Moore, younger and also the owner of a higher ranking than Dokic, is contesting the qualifying round on Friday.
