Russian Vera Dushevina ousted No.2 seed Agnes Szavay on Wednesday, while the other Top 3 seeds made it through to the quarterfinals at the Tier IV, $145,000 Nordea Nordic Light Open in Stockholm.

Last year's runner-up Dushevina beat Szavay 64 76(6) and will meet Sania Mirza or Iveta Benesova for a place in the semifinals.

"I like this city and this tournament," said Dushevina. "It was a tough game, but I played well."

Meanwhile No.1 seed Agnieszka Radwanska - who beat Dushevina in last year's final - defeated Ukrainian Mariya Koryttseva, 61 61. Ranked No.10, Radwanska has already won titles at Pattaya City and Istanbul this year.

Katarina Srebotnik was the second seeded player through to the quarterfinals on Wednesday after beating qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 63 64. The 17-year-old Russian - a recent world No.1 junior - was no match for No.3 seed Srebotnik who had an excellent month in May, reaching the semifinals in Prague and the final in Strasburg. But there was a moment in the second set when it looked like Pavlyuchenkova could have fought back.

"She started to play very well in that part of the match, and at the same time I missed a couple of shots," said Srebotnik. "Anastasia is a very good player, but it's a long way to go from the junior tour to the seniors." No.29-ranked Srebotnik will face either qualifier Maria Elena Camerin or Virginia Ruano Pascual in the quarterfinals.

No.6 seed Mirza - who only recently arrived from California after competing in Stanford and Los Angeles - is through to the second round after defeating Emilie Loit 63 62 in Wednesday's only first-round match.

There was a double helping of Scandinavian success on Wednesday when the Finnish and Swedish doubles team of Emma Laine and Johanna Larsson beat Danish and Swedish wildcards Karen Barbat and Sandra Roma, 63 61, moving them into the quarterfinals. The next match is sure to be tough as they find themselves up against Czech No.4 seeds Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlovova Strycova.

No.1 seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual are also through to the quarterfinals after beating Russians Ekaterina Bychkova and Vesna Manasieva, 75 61.
