Serbian fourth seed Viktor Troicki moved into the quarter-finals of the Thailand Open with a 6-3 7-6 win over Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci in Bangkok.
Troicki took almost 90 minutes to seal the victory, capitalising on a series of errors by the Brazilian to set up a last-eight encounter with either American John Isner or German Mischa Zverev.

Zverev beat Argentina's Leonardo Mayer 5-7 6-3 6-3 in his first-round match.

Sixth-seed Juergen Melzer cruised into the quarter-finals after beating Turkish qualifier Marsel Ilhan 6-4 6-2.

The Austrian served up nine aces to overpower the 174th-ranked Turk and force his exit in less than an hour.

American Kevin Kim overcame Germany's Rainer Schuettler 6-4 6-4. Kim will meet number two seed Gilles Simon of France in round two on Thursday.

Top seed and holder Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France will face Latvian Ernests Gulbis in his opening match.
