It’s been a year of ups and downs for 21-year-old Moscow native Anna Chakvetadze. Although she has slipped slightly in the rankings,  this year she won her 7th career title, at the Open Gaz de France in Paris.

But it’s her pride in winning for her country that really shows on her official site’s homepage: "Winning the Kremlin Cup 2006 by far is the biggest achievement I had. Being Russian and winning your hometown tournament means so much in the world," she says in a warm welcome to the site. But it’s in the diary section where she truly opens up, giving fans an honest and insider look at her hopes for her career, her family and personal life, and her preparations for success.

Elsewhere, Chakvetadze has compiled an exhaustive group of photos from her performances at 2008 tournaments and slams, including the Sony Ericsson Open, the Bausch and Laumb Championship, the Australian Open and of course from her amazing showing at the Open Gaz de France. Take a look at her current tournament schedule to keep pace with her, or check out her archive to see where she’s been and how well she’s done.

But throughout the site, it’s Chakvetadze’s passion for tennis and love for her fans that truly resonates. Her guestbook is full of page after page of kudos and congratulations, while she has even created an area of the site for fellow fans to chat and discuss all things Anna.

Chakvetadze sums up her appreciation for her fans and the support that they have given her throughout the year quite succinctly on her homepage: "I would like to thank all my fans who supported me and stuck with me throughout this tough year," she says. "I really appreciate the nice words and encouraging letter you sent me. I can’t promise you anything next season but I look forward to coming back stronger."
