World No. 1 Roger Federer may need to get through a pair of Andy’s – World No. 4 Andy Murray and World No. 8 Andy Roddick – to reach the final at the BNP Paribas Open, the first of nine prestigious ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tennis tournaments this season. The Swiss is seeded to meet top American Roddick in the quarter-finals and 2009 finalist Murray in the semis.

Not so long ago, the great rivalry for the Nr. 1 ranking was going in one direction. The 5-year long reign and supremacy of Roger Federer was about to come to a shocking end, and he would be permanently de-throned by arch rival Rafael Nadal.

Retired stars Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova and Lindsay Davenport are joining Justine Henin in a second match at a charity tennis exhibition to raise money for Haiti.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will team with retired stars Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi in an already announced men's match during the "Hit for Haiti" benefit to be played on March 12 at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

I certainly do. We had The Fed there every year winning the title. Who can forget Agassi and Federer playing on the helipad in 2006. It used to be a great February stop off for the Tour after the Aussie Open - an event which had prestige and sell out crowds and more importantly one which the players took very seriously.

Britain's Andy Murray beat Russia's Igor Kunitsyn 6-2 6-3 to win his first match since losing the Australian Open final to Roger Federer, in the opening round of the Dubai Open.

With the news that Federer has pulled out of Dubai it seems fitting to comment on a view ive held for a while - that these days Tennis is more and more about the Grand Slams and the small events are suffering.
